Adapted from Bess Streeter Aldrich's novel Miss Bishop, Cheers for Miss Bishop is a sweeping, tragic epic of lost love and missed opportunities spanning the course of nearly fifty years in the life of the eponymous Ella Bishop. In a spellbinding performance, Martha Scott (Ben Hur, Our Town) portrays Bishop, a teacher at a small Midwestern college who has endured an inordinate amount of misfortune, including broken engagements, ill-fated extramarital affairs and the untimely deaths of many of her closes friends.
