xRooted in trust and a joyful exploration of the unknown, the GTO Trio creates music that balances unguarded vulnerability with transcendent emotional depth. Seamlessly moving between structured compositions and spontaneous improvisation, their sound captivates and resonates. In September 2023, the GTO Trio performed a series of concerts at the Caspar-Wolf-Saal in Muri, Switzerland—a venue celebrated for its intimate acoustics and unique round seating arrangement. Inspired by the space, the trio recorded Within during the same period. Most tracks were captured in the quiet hours between performances, allowing the musicians to absorb and channel the room’s atmosphere into their playing. The album title, Within, reflects both the venue’s distinctive setup and the trio’s commitment to capturing the essence of their collective sound. The GTO Trio’s journey began over a decade ago in Israel’s close-knit jazz scene. "We’ve known each other since we were teenagers," says Nehemya. "That connection, built back then, still shapes how we play together today." Early collaborations revealed a natural synergy, fueled by shared influences and a mutual passion for exploring new musical horizons. After years of performing together in various formations, they officially formed the GTO Trio in 2018, embarking on a tour of Japan and Europe and releasing their debut album, From the Road. Beyond their work as a trio, its members have performed as sidemen with some of jazz’s most celebrated figures, including Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Ravi Coltrane, Mulatu Astatke, Anat Cohen, and Avishai Cohen. It feels like just the beginning for this dynamic and exciting group.
