Along with Mecca & The Soul Brother and Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop, Showbiz & A.G.'s Runaway Slave was one of a string of records that made 1992 a seminal year for hip-hop. Showbiz & A.G. took the grit of New York's streets and laid them over jazzy beats supplied by Showbiz himself, with an assist from Diamond D. The album also features steady bars from a young A.G with contributions from Big L and Lord Finesse which assured Showbiz and A.G.'s place in the hip-hop canon.
